Laila Cunningham: “Let’s Make London Safe Again”
Reform UK’s London Mayoral candidate Laila Cunningham has pledged to make public safety her first priority if elected Mayor of London, with a commitment to double the number of police officers carrying out visible policing on the capital’s streets.
Cunningham says too many Londoners have changed the way they live because they no longer feel safe, with parents particularly concerned about their children travelling around the capital or returning home at night.
She argues that while Mayor Sadiq Khan points towards improving crime statistics, many Londoners remain concerned about what they experience in their communities.
Her proposal would put more visible police officers in town centres, on public transport and across London’s streets, with a particular focus on theft, robbery, knife crime and antisocial behaviour.
Cunningham said:
“As Mayor, keeping Londoners safe won’t be one priority among many. It will be my first responsibility.”
Her message forms part of a new campaign entitled “Let’s Make London Safe Again.”
