68 New Affordable Homes Taking Shape in St Paul’s Cray
Work is progressing on the construction of 68 new affordable homes in St Paul’s Cray, with the initial foundation works now completed at the Bellegrove development next to St Paul’s Cray Library.
The development forms part of Bromley Council’s Bromley Homes for Bromley People programme and will provide a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom properties for Bromley residents on the borough’s housing register.
The majority of the new properties will be provided as social rent housing, alongside wheelchair-accessible and supported living homes.
Construction Progress
Following demolition and preparation of the site, construction work is now well underway.
The first section of the ground-floor slab has been poured, reinforced concrete columns have been formed and work on the pile foundations is progressing. The concrete frame of the development is expected to become increasingly visible over the coming months.
The new homes are currently expected to be completed by late 2027.
£29 Million Development
The overall development is valued at approximately £29 million, with £14 million of support coming from the Greater London Authority.
Alongside the 68 homes, the plans include improvements to local children’s play facilities, car and cycle parking and new landscaping.
A corridor of green space is also planned through the development towards Hoblingwell Wood Recreation Ground.
Construction is being carried out by The Hill Group on behalf of Bromley Council.
Housing on a Brownfield Site
The Bellegrove development is being constructed on previously developed land and was the eighth project to receive planning approval through the council’s Bromley Homes for Bromley People programme.
The programme is intended to provide homes for people on Bromley’s housing register at social and affordable rent levels.
With construction now moving above foundation level, residents in St Paul’s Cray will see the development taking shape over the coming months ahead of its planned completion in 2027.
