Green Flag Award for Hoblingwell Wood and Recreation Ground
There is some great news for one of Orpington’s much-loved green spaces, with Hoblingwell Wood and Recreation Ground receiving a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The Green Flag Award is an internationally recognised standard for well-managed parks and green spaces, recognising the work that goes into providing welcoming, well-maintained and accessible places for local communities.
For Hoblingwell, the award reflects the considerable work carried out by local volunteers alongside the idverde team, stakeholders and community partners who help maintain and improve the park.
Situated in St Paul’s Cray, Hoblingwell Wood and Recreation Ground provides an important open space for residents and is another reminder of the value of protecting and looking after the green spaces within the Orpington constituency.
The Friends of Hoblingwell described receiving the award as a major achievement and paid particular tribute to their volunteers, whose regular work helps keep the park clean, attractive and welcoming.
The group’s new Green Flag will soon be flying within the park.

And winning the award doesn’t mean the work stops!
The Friends of Hoblingwell are looking for additional volunteers to help maintain the award-winning space, with regular work sessions currently taking place on:
Wednesdays from 10:00am
Thursdays from 10:30am
Saturdays from 11:00am
No previous gardening or maintenance experience is required, with tools and guidance provided.
Reform UK Orpington congratulates everyone involved in achieving the Green Flag Award.
Our parks, woodland and open spaces are an important part of what makes Orpington a great place to live, and the volunteers who give their own time to maintain them deserve recognition and support.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Friends of Hoblingwell through their Facebook page.
